IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT ART PICK UP!!!
Because of the nature of how we store the art projects all together in the class, we have decided that going through the art work at the start of next year would be the best plan of action. We will NOT be handing out this years work or supplies if you stored them in the room until after school resumes. All art work will be returned to you at the start of next year up at the high school. We will make sure it gets to you. Again, art will NOT be handed back UNTIL school resumes next school year. Thank you!

Greek Vessel Drawings
This week I would like for you to draw and color a Greek vessel drawing. Please start by drawing a Greek shaped vessel and then pick a Greek god or goddess (or use the Greek god or goddess you research this year) and draw their symbol or their image on it (examples above). Add a Greek design (examples above) along the top or bottom or both of the vessel. You may add a handle and/or lid if you wish. This will be a drawing of what your vessel would look like if you were getting your ideas ready to create it out of clay. I have uploaded some examples above. You can google search Greek vessels for many other ideas. Be creative! Make this a drawing you are proud of. Take a picture of it and email it to me when you finish.
***Please disregard the extra writing on the sides of the paper of my example. Those are actually the notes you would have taken on yours in class if we were actually moving to the next step of creating it with clay. You are not required to complete that part for this home assignment.

Week of April 14 (Tuesday- Friday
Last week I asked for you to start collecting empty toilet paper/paper towel tubes. This week we will be using these empty tubes for our assignment.
I would like for you to create an art piece with your empty toilet paper tubes/paper towel tubes. You may cut the tubes, glue the tubes, paint or color the tubes, basically any thing you would like to use with the tubes to create an interesting piece of art work. I gave some examples in the photos above, but you can also google search toilet paper rolls/tubes art or toilet paper rolls/tubes crafts, there you will find many ideas to get you going. This is due on Friday.

Week of April 6 (MONDAY - THURSDAY)- NO CLASS FRIDAY
1.) This week I would like for you to start collecting empty toilet paper/paper towel tubes. We will be using these empty tubes for an assignment next week. There is no requirement for how many you save up, but you will need at least one. I will not be giving you directions for them, until April 14.
2.) For this week, due on Thursday, is to create paper beads to make a piece of jewelry. I have posted pictures above of how to create different beads. If you have colored paper or designed paper or even wrapping paper, those can also be used instead of creating a design on the paper. I show an example of designing your own bead above on the pink paper. I also posted a picture (third picture from left) of how to draw the lines and cut the paper to for different bead types. Each bead is shown above the example to see what it will look like after it is rolled up.
Once you decide on which beads you want to make, draw the lines on the paper for that bead type and then cut it out. Next you will want to roll the paper from the larger end towards the point. I have found that rolling it on a pencil works great. When you get to the point you will use glue and hold it until it sticks. Then remove the pencil. You may create as many beads as you wish, but the minimum I would like you to make is three. Once you have the beads made, turn them into some sort of jewelry. You can string them on yarn, fish line, string, anything you can find. Here is a short video that will give you a visual of creating beads, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_brtyWa0Jg
Once you create your jewelry piece(s), please take a picture of it and email it to me. This assignment is due by the end of the day on Thursday

There is no requirement for how many you save up, but you will need at least one. I will not be giving you directions for them, until April 14.

If you have colored paper or designed paper or even wrapping paper, those can also be used instead of creating a design on the paper. Once you decide on which beads you want to make, draw the lines on the paper for that bead type and then cut it out. Next you will want to roll the paper from the larger end towards the point.
